Social media sites like Twitter have taken the world by storm, spreading news like wildfire at the click of a mouse. One post turns into thousands, which can then turn into millions. In early 2010, Brian Swanson, a Memphis-based entrepreneur, posed the question: "Why couldn’t that same principle be applied to raising funds for a worthy cause?"

So, the idea for TweetForHabitat was born – to use the far-reaching impact of Twitter to help raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis, an organization that’s been working to eliminate poverty housing in Memphis since 1983.
